2026 Popular Shaver Shopping Guide & Recommendation
When you are rushing out in the morning, an electric shaver that gives a close shave, is easy to handle and simple to clean can make grooming quicker. Electric shavers mainly use rotary heads or reciprocating foils, with different cutting actions and ways of following facial contours. Beyond brand and price, compare comfort, wet-and-dry use, battery runtime, quick charging and replacement-head costs. The Consumer Council tested nine electric shavers in 2026; this guide summarises the results, matched Fortress models and practical buying points to help you choose for your beard, skin needs and routine.
In August 2026, the Consumer Council published its latest electric shaver test, covering nine rotary and foil models and comparing shaving performance, comfort, ease of use, battery performance, durability and workmanship. Below is a score summary of the models available at Fortress.

1. Rotary shavers
How they work: These shavers use several blades working in a circular rotary motion to quickly and continuously cut stubble in one direction.
Features: High motor power is not required. They are quiet and stable when in use and have very little vibration.
Cutting direction: They work with blades moving in small circular motions in the opposite direction to the facial hair growth.
2. Foil shavers
How they work: They remove the hair with a blade that swings from side to side at high speed against a guard foil.
Features: Powerful motor. These shavers ensure a clean shave and are ideal for fast growing and thick hair.
Cutting direction: You need to move the shaver back and forth, from side to side and in the opposite direction from top to bottom.
Besides the Consumer Council-tested models, these PANASONIC foil shavers offer further choices by beard density, budget, body size and colour:
PANASONIC ES-LV67 LAMDASH Linear Shaver uses a multi-blade system for denser facial hair.
PANASONIC ES-LT2B LAMDASH Linear Shaver has an easy-to-handle body for everyday shaving.
PANASONIC ES-CM3A LAMDASH Linear Shaver Its compact, portable body suits travel, quick touch-ups and limited storage space.
1. LED display
If the shaver comes with an LED display, data such as tips for cleaning the blade, a battery life indicator and other information make them easy to operate.
2. How to clean
Rinse the stubble and debris from inside the blade head thoroughly to keep the electric shaver clean. The entire body of most electric shavers can be washed. Some models come with a smart design to make cleaning inside the shaver easier and more convenient.
3. Accessories
When buying an electric shaver, find out what accessories are included. Some come with a special brush to make cleaning the shaver more efficient. Some shavers are equipped with an auto cleaning function and charging base to make them easy to clean, charge and lubricate.
4. Wet and dry functions
The dry-use electric shavers allow you to shave quickly, at any time and anywhere. For wet-use shavers, you can use shaving gel or foamin a shower or during bathing.
5. Power supply
Rechargeable type: Choose this model if you are going to use it at home most of the time. Check the battery life and time required for charging.
Battery type: If you travel frequently, the battery type is easy to carry around. Just remember to take some extra batteries for backup.
A: Rotary shavers use circular heads with a circular shaving motion, making it easier to follow the contours of the chin and neck. Foil shavers use blades moving from side to side behind a foil and suit short, straight shaving strokes.
A: Look for good head contact, a comfort mode and wet-and-dry capability. Avoid pressing too firmly and use shaving foam according to personal needs when the product instructions allow it. Skin may also need time to adjust to a new shaver.
A: A wet-and-dry model can generally be used for dry shaving or with shaving foam as directed. Washable may mean only the shaving head can be rinsed and does not necessarily mean the whole shaver can be used in the shower.
A: Runtime varies by model, battery condition, beard density and shaving duration. Frequent travellers can compare runtime, quick charging, USB charging and travel-lock functions.
A: The replacement interval depends on the model, usage frequency, cleaning and head condition. Replace the appropriate head or foil when shaving performance declines, pulling occurs or the foil is damaged.
A: Switch off the shaver and remove hair from the head, then use a cleaning brush, water or specified cleaning fluid as directed. Let it dry thoroughly and avoid wetting the charging contacts and power port.
A: No. Never wet shave while the shaver is connected to a power cable or adaptor, and always follow the product safety instructions.
