It’s natural to feel physically tired after working for long hours. But often we can trace a lot of our fatigue to using improper computer accessories. There are many ergonomic products on the market that are designed to match our human posture and usage patterns to help reduce fatigue. Check out the following guide on how to choose the right accessories.

Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse

The objective of ergonomics to improve human comfort and posture and enhance efficiency by making products that are more human friendly.

1. Ergonomic keyboard

Ergonomic keyboards are characterised by a figure-of-eight shape with keys arranged separately and at a certain curvature. This is to ensure that the typing posture is more in line with the wrist joint, while the shorter key range reduces muscle activity and joint movement in the critical areas of the human neck, arm and wrist. This allows people to type more comfortably even during long working hours with minimal wrist strain.

2. Ergonomic mouse

The main difference between an ergonomic mouse and a regular mouse is that the former has a tilted shape, which is more in line with the natural grip of the human hand. This not only reduces the chance of wrist joint and muscle strain, but also improves the control of the mouse, resulting in better performance.

Other Accessories

1. Computer stand

The biggest benefit is that it allows users to operate more comfortably and reduces wrist and neck stress. In addition to adjusting the angle and improving the viewing angle of the monitor screen, some computer stands also have heat dissipation features. Another type of stand is used for display screens and upon installation, allows you to freely adjust the screen angle. It can be rotated vertically or horizontally for improved work efficiency.

2. Keyboard and mouse wrist pads

In addition to the above-mentioned accessories, wrist pads can be configurated according to personal needs. The keyboard wrist pad keeps the wrist straight for typing comfort while the mouse wrist pad helps protect the wrist by making it easier to slide your hands across the surface.

In addition to having the right ergonomic accessories, remember to care for your eyes and body during long hours of work to reduce physical strain.

3. Small massagers

There is an array of different massagers to help relax various parts of the body. A back massage cushion on the seat relaxes the neck and spine. Use eye and wrist massagers to relieve eye and hand tension when you rest.

Work Tips

1. Sit upright at work and keep your seat close to the desk.

2. Keep your wrists straight when using the keyboard and mouse.

3. Keep your forearms and arms at right angles to the seat and leave enough space in front of the keyboard to support your hands.

4. Keep a distance of at least 50 cm from the monitor.

5. Whenever you are working on a computer for more than about half an hour, take a break for 20 to 30 seconds to reduce eye tension.
