The machine will rinse itself when switched on and rinse once more when switched off. it takes about a minute for the machine to be ready (self rinsing) and about 45 secs to dispense one espresso or coffee. Suction feet means the machine will not shift when bean is grinding. Big coffee drinkers take note that you will need to empty the grounds container and the drip tray every 5-6 cups, otherwise this machine is relatively low maintenance. Other parts only require cleaning once a week.
