Feeding Guidelines
Ideal feeding amounts vary depending on age, weight, and activity level; therefore, the following guidelines are for reference only. Divide the daily feeding amount (cups) by the number of feedings per day. Always provide clean drinking water. In addition to dry food, we recommend feeding raw or wet food to help increase the moisture content of your pet's diet. Daily Feeding Guidelines (Standard 8-ounce dry food measuring cup): Adult dogs maintaining weight (cups per day): 5-15 lbs: ½ - 1 cup; 16-25 lbs: 1 – 1 ½ cups; 26-50 lbs: 1 ½ - 2 ½ cups; 51-75 lbs: 2 ½ - 3 ¼ cups; 10-100 lbs: 10 cups minus 1008 cups / 5-100 lbs: 5-1007 cups; 71-100 lbs: ¼ - ¾ cups; 16-25 lbs: ¾ - 1 cup; 26-50 lbs: 1-1¾ cups; 51-75 lbs: 1¾-2¼ cups; 76-100 lbs: 2¼-2¾ cups. Puppies (except large breeds [adult weight over 70 lbs]): Feeding amount can be twice the maintenance amount for the adult dog. Pregnant/lactating bitches: Feed up to three times the maintenance amount for adult dogs. Dogs weighing over 100 pounds: Increase by up to ¾ cup for every 20 pounds gained. Transitioning to Instinct dog food: Always introduce the new food gradually over 5 to 7 days, increasing the mixing ratio of Instinct dog food with your existing dog food daily.
